Last fall, Google extended the Auto-Update Expiration (AUE) date on many Chromebooks currently for sale as well as new Chromebooks that will launch in the future. This provides many devices an additional year or more before they reach their AUE date. In addition, there are now over 200 policies available to administrators through the Chrome Education Upgrade (formerly Chrome Education license) while Google continues to invest in adding new features based on educator feedback.
In line with these enhancements to the Chrome Education Upgrade, Google will be increasing the MSRP of the Chrome Education Upgrade and the non-profit version, from $30 USD to $38 USD globally effective March 9, 2020.
In addition to these changes, Google is now offering 8 years of updates on devices launched in 2020. If you're considering refreshing your fleet we've added 3 devices that are new for 2020 to our website and you can view them here. If you add these devices this summer they will receive auto-updates until June of 2020
